CHRISTMASDavid Austin composed “DON’T CANCEL CHRISTMAS” around 10 years ago in support of the Christmas season which is sometimes perceived as cynical commercialism. Because most people work hard all the year around and his idea was that people are entitled to enjoy a period of conviviality with their family and friends without any moral judgement or censure from the media or in fact anyone of their dislike of the Christmas period. As everyone is aware The COVID pandemic has brought “The Christmas period” in to sharp focus. Therefore, the need to have a song which is an antidote to the crushing disappointment of the entire world that has been under draconian legal lockdown measures. This fact re-enforced the need to have songs out there that everyone would benefit from hearing a positive, optimistic Christmas song which can be helpful, reassuring and even important. This would give everyone the permission this year to have a good time and not feel pressurised or guilty about relaxing with their family and friends and to simply enjoy an original happy Christmas dance song!
